The Gift Of Encouragement

I love it when I go to a conference and get to hear a brand new author–at least “new” to me. For me, this year, it was Glenys Nellist. I have to say I wasn’t sure what to expect from her session title, “Retelling God’s Story For Children,”  but it was, by far, one of the best sessions I’ve ever gone to.

Glenys is genuine and super funny and full of wonderful ideas and tips on writing. I just loved it when she said that we need to have an encourager in order to be a writer. She’s so right. I know this for a fact because I have one. It’s my mom. She is always, I mean always, encouraging me. She tells me that I can do it with God’s help and that He can use my gifts for His glory.

Thanks, Glenys, for reminding me of that. And thanks, Mom, for always encouraging me.

“Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing.”–I Thessalonians 5:11

  1. Dear Marian, thank you so much for being MY encourager on this misty morning. I returned from the Breathe Writers Conference worn out, but your kind words helped to revive my spirit. As I drive to my meetings later today, I’ll be listening to what. I’m sure, will be more soothing sounds from you, by way of your lovely CD. Thank you for that generous gift, and the gift of this blog post this morning. May God bless you richly, as you have so blessed me.

    • Hello Glenys! Thank you so much for your kind comments. It was such a blessing hearing you share your journey to becoming an author this past Saturday. You shared from your heart the story behind, “Love Letters from God,” and how God had a plan for you and that book. You made us laugh and helped us to see behind the scenes of how God moves in mysterious ways. Your entire session was inspiring and something that I needed to hear. I’ve often reflected on it this past week and plan to use what you taught us in my writing. May the Lord bless you, your family, and your ministry.
